Stereotypes

As a young boy, the word lazy meant exactly what it meant, but once I grew older and moved to the south, that word took on a whole new meaning. The words that I have chosen are not only common stereotypes amongst black people. They are also the words that I myself have come across in my lifetime.

The words on the forehead are written in marker. They are not to be taken literal. They should be taken in a more serious way. I am redefining the stereotypes amongst black people and shedding much needed light that these stereotypes are just words. Words that can be simply be erased just like the words on the foreheads.

For this project words were my source of inspiration. Just one word can bring on a whole new meaning, especially when that word is associated with stereotypes.
